This king was the brother of Muwatalli II. He defeated his nephew Mursilli III in a civil war over the kingdom, exiling him and installing Mursilli's son Karunta as the vassal ruler of Tarhuntassa. As a check against Karunta's power he also brought back the statues of the Hittite gods and the Hittite ancestor cults from Tarhuntassa back to Hattusa (Kurt pg. 62).
